Michel Portal und Jacky Terrasson kann man ohne Übertreibung zum Besten zählen, was die Jazzwelt im Besonderen und die Musikwelt im Allgemeinen zu bieten hat.
Hier sind Musiker am Werk, die Imagination in persona darstellen. Jede einzelne Passage sprudelt über vor rhythmischem Erfindungsreichtum; die Harmonie des Zusammenspiels ist atemberaubend und die Klangfarben übersteigen jede Vorstellung. Das ist Musik in Reinform, ausgehend von den Wurzeln des Seins, nicht nur für die Ohren, sondern für alle Sinne. Was Portal und Terrasson zelebrieren, ist Schöpfung, beseelte Klangwerdung der Materie…
..... es bleibt einem nur Dankbarkeit, diese Musik erleben zu können - und die kleinlaute Scham, mit armseligen Worten Unbeschreibliches andeuten zu wollen…
Denn Portal spielt keine Klarinette: er ist sein Instrument; er verkörpert den Klang; er füllt den Raum mit Präsenz und Seele, dass man glaubt, in der Tonmaterie zu ertrinken, zu versinken, sich darin aufzulösen…
Ebenso Terrasson: glaubt man eben noch, er hätte einen Jazzstandard intoniert, wechselt er schon zum nächsten Thema, und zum nächsten, und zum nächsten, und verwebt alle Stimmen zu einem derartig dichten Geflecht, dass einem schwindelt ob soviel Tonakrobatik; und dennoch ist alles immer harmonisch, ausbalanciert, klangvoll und einfach nur schön!

Michel Portal and Jacky Terrasson are – without exaggeration – not only among the best that the jazz world has to offer
but also the entire world of music. When these musicians play, their music is imagination personified. Every single passage
fizzes with rhythmical ingenuity – the harmonious co-operation is breathtaking and the timbre is beyond belief. This is
music in its purist form, music’s very essence – not only for the ears but for all the senses. Portal and Terrasson commemorate
the creation of music – the birth of sound as a subject matter…
…all that’s left is a thankfulness for having been able to experience their music – and a sheepish inability to describe something
utterly indescribable…
Portal doesn’t play clarinet – he is his instrument. He embodies the sound; he fills the room with presence and soul, so as to make
you believe you’re sinking and drowning in the sound and being dissolved into it…
Likewise Terrasson makes you believe that he’s starting to play a standard jazz piece but then quickly changes to the next theme
and to the next one, and to the next one and interweaves all the parts into such a rich tapestry, that in lesser hands would feel
forced or faked due to the extravagant sound acrobatics; but still everything remains harmonious, balanced, melodious and just…perfect!
