gDoon – das aktuelle Projekt der Wiener NOUVELLE CUISINE BIGBAND erfrischt mit neuen
Kompositionen des Bandleader Doppelgestirns Christian Mühlbacher und Christoph Cech und
einem Werk des Bassisten Tibor Kövesdi. Kernsubstanz und Triebfeder der Stücke sind
rhythmische Module von oft komplexer Gestalt, die von der Band in druckvolle zeitgenössische
Grooves gewandelt werden. Diese Qualität begleitet NOUVELLE CUISINE seit ihren Anfängen
und trägt viel zum Ruf explodierender Kraft bei, der der Band vorauseilt.
Dass grooveorientierte Musik nicht automatisch Verzicht auf spannende Tonsprache bedeuten muss,
beweisen Cech und Mühlbacher in den langen Aufbauten, sich vielschichtig auftürmenden
Bläsersätzen und den neuer Musik zugewandten Stimmungen ihrer Stücke. Interpretiert von
Extraklassesolisten des Landes, entsteht gDoon, etwas, dessen Eigen.Art man in seiner ganzen
Frische und Überzeugungskraft gehört haben muss, um es zu verstehen.

gDoon - the current project by the Viennese NOUVELLE CUISINE BIGBAND spices up it's
repertoire with new compositions by the twin bandleaders Christian Mühlbacher and Christoph
Cech and one work by bassist Tibor Kövesdi. Essential parts and driving forces of the new
works are rhythmic modules with complex structures, which are transformed by the band into
powerfull, contemporary grooves. This quality has always been a mainstake of NOUVELLE
CUISINE since it's inauguration (late 80'ies) and reinforces the band's reputation for
exploding energies. Groove oriented music does not necessarily mean the exclusion of
fascinating compositional vocabulary, and that fact is well proven by Cech and Mühlbacher
with their ascending musical structures, multi-layered hornparts and the mood of the pieces
leaning towards contemporary music. Performed by first rate soloists from Austria, dGoon is
created. If wanted to be understood, one can only witness it's originality and convincing
freshness by having listened to it.
